For the last two years, Ranji Trophy was not held. The domestic cricketers were waiting and BCCI announced the tournament. It took in two phases, with IPL 2022 placed in between. Many youngsters showed their skills in this tournament and a few of them could even make their India debut in the coming years.

Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Yash Dubey

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Yash Dubey are the openers in the combined best playing XI of Ranji Trophy 2022. Yash Dubey scored 614 runs and was one of the reasons why Madhya Pradesh could do well. He also had a good show in the finals of the season. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal proved that he can do well in Tests, as well. He scored close to 500 runs at an average above 80. Middle-Order: Shubham Sharma, Rajat Patidar (C), Sarfaraz Khan and Chetan Bist (WK)

Madhya Pradesh had performers throughout their playing XI. This was one of the main factors behind their inspirational victory. In the batting department, Shubham Sharma and Rajat Patidar were solid. Especially Patidar, who played crucial knocks under pressure in many games. He was the calm presence that the young squad required.

Sarfaraz Khan was yet again the star of the season. He batted with an average of above 100 and ended as the leading run-getter of Ranji Trophy 2022. With this show, he has all but cemented his spot in one of the future Test tournaments for India. Chetan Bist, playing for Nagaland, also had a fine performance. Hence, he features as the wicket-keeper in this XI.
