Zimbabwe's star batter warns the Indian side, predicts a 2-1 series win for Zimbabwe
After winning both the ODI and T20I series on the West Indies tour, India have now moved to Zimbabwe for an ODI series starting on August 18. The KL Rahul-led team will play three ODIs against Zimbabwe, ending on August 22. It will help some players to get the required match time before the Asia Cup.

Notably, the Asia Cup will kick off on August 27 and India has already announced a 15-member squad for the same, but before that they will have to face an all-spirited Zimbabwe team, who are coming off a historic series win over Bangladesh in both ODIs and T20Is recently.

This will be the first time since 2016 that the Men in Blue are touring this African country. And, just ahead of the series, Zimbabwe's star batsman has issued a warning to the Indian team, saying that they will cause a major upset against the visitors.

Speaking of the history between the two, both teams have played a total of 13 series across all formats, and the African nation has won two of those series in history. But India is undefeated since 2001, winning six series and drawing two. It includes three successive ODI series wins in 2013, 2015 and 2016, two T20I series wins and one Test series.

Despite a one-sided history, Zimbabwe's batsman, Innocent Kaia, reckons that the home team will defeat India 2-1 in the upcoming ODIs. He also adds that he wants to finish as the highest scorer in the series and score hundreds. Kaia made this bold prediction in an interview with Times Now.

He further said, “2-1 in favour of Zimbabwe. We win the series. As for personal expectations, I want to be the leading run scorer and score hundreds. Simple plan. That’s my goal."

Zimbabwe surprised everyone when they beat Bangladesh 2-1 in the ODI series. They won the first two games, chasing a total of 300 and 290 plus, respectively. It was their first ODI series win against a test-playing nation since 2015-16.

Furthermore, Kaia said that all the changes came after David Houghton joined as head coach and gave the freedom to the players to go and express themselves. India have rested the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah from the series. KL Rahul is making his comeback after an injury and will lead the side, while Shikhar Dhawan will be the vice-captain.
