"ab kya hum retirement le lain?" - Shaheen Afridi had a hilarious response to Mohammad Rizwan bowling at the County Championship
The match between Sussex and Durham saw two sub-continental players set the stage on fire. The veteran Indian test batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, added a big partnership of 154 runs to help Sussex take a big lead of 315 in the first inning. Durham was bowled out for 223 and, after that, Sussex replied with a massive first innings score of 538 runs, courtesy of a double century from Pujara and a gritty knock from Rizwan.
The veteran Indian batter scored his second double and third century of this season, 203 off 334 balls. The Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman scored 79 runs. However, more than the batting performances, one other thing caught the eyes of everyone, and that was the two overs bowled by the wicket-keeper, Rizwan, in the second innings of Durham.
The match ended in a draw, and he took the opportunity to roll his arm over. He bowled his two overs and gave away five runs. Surprisingly, one of his bowled balls bounced unexpectedly, surprising the batsman. Sussex also shared a video clip of Rizwan bowling his first over in the County Championship.
The video went viral in just a short span of time, and fans and many cricketers reacted to it. Some Pakistani cricketers also reacted to the bowling of the wicket-keeper in the match. The Pakistani speedster, Shaheen Shah Afridi, was also up to it and replied with a hiliarousely. He tweeted, "Rizzi bhai, ab kya hum retirement le lain? Ye aap kya ker rahe hain? Kuch hamare liye bhi chorh dain (Rizzie bhai, should we take retirement now? What are you doing? leave something for us.)"
The match ended with a draw after a strong comeback from Durham in their second innings. Trailing by 315 runs, the Durham openers scored a century each. Alex Lees scored 105 runs and Sean Dickson scored 186 runs. Both openers added 313 runs for the first wicket, and Durham declared their second innings at 364/3.
With not much time left in the game, both teams settled for a draw. Sussex are now in the number two position as they have 31 points in total after four matches.
