After not getting the chance in Indian team, Ajinkya Rahane set to play in English County to earn Test comeback.
Indian veteran batter and former Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane has been out of the Indian team for quite some time now. He was the one who led India to the historic 2-1 Border-Gavaskar Trophy win in Australia last time.

Rahane played his last international game for India in 2022, when India toured South Africa for a three-match test series. However, due to his inconsistency with the bat, he was left out of the Indian squad, and Shreyas Iyer was given the chance.

Meanwhile, Iyer has grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and since then, he has become a key member of the Indian Test side. Despite his many match-winning performances for India, he has been sidelined from the team. And as per the latest developments, the former Indian vice-captain has joined the famous English county club.

For the upcoming English summer, he will play for Leicestershire. He will be part of the eight county games and will also feature in the Royal London One-Day Championship. Notably, he has already played in the County Championship back in 2019. He was part of Hampshire where he had mixed performances with the bat.

Rahane will join the English club after the conclusion of the IPL 2023. The 34-year-old is part of the four-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings, who signed him at his base price. After joining Leicestershire, Rahane seemed excited.

Rahane said, "I’m really happy to be joining Leicestershire for the upcoming season. I can’t wait to play alongside my new teammates and explore the vibrant city of Leicester."

Claude Henderson, Leicestershire Director of Cricket welcomed Rahane to the team. He said that it is a great opportunity to welcome an experienced player like Rahane, and they also want to utilise his experience within the team with other players as well.
