Ahmedabad and Lucknow reportedly interested in Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Chahar

The two new franchises - Ahmedabad and Lucknow - have started their planning processes ahead of the IPL Mega Auction 2022. The BCCI has allowed the two new franchises to sign three players each before the mega auction which is scheduled to happen in February. 

According to a report by Times of India, leg-spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Chahar have garnered interest from the two new franchises because the boundaries at the Narendra Modi Stadium and the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium are long, which is why the leg-spinners could achieve a lot of success at the two venues. 

Fans should note that some matches of IPL 2021 happened in Ahmedabad, where Yuzvendra Chahal performed decently for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Even some domestic matches happened at the Narendra Modi Stadium, where the talent scouts of both franchises would have noted the talents of the players. 

"Leg-spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Chahar are also in demand since both the grounds at Ahmedabad and Lucknow have big boundaries which is seen as an advantage for leg-spinners," the report stated. 

Thus, it should not be a surprise if either Chahal or Chahar earns a contract from one of the two new franchises before the mega auction in 2022. 

Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Chahar played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians respectively last year 

IPL 2021 happened last year in India and the United Arab Emirates. Spinners enjoyed bowling in that tournament, and two players who had a good tournament were Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Chahar. 

Many fans were surprised when the Bangalore-based franchise decided against retaining Chahal before the mega auction because they still had one spot vacant in the retention list. 

Meanwhile, MI had to release their star leg-spinner Chahar because they filled up their four spots with Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard.
