India and New Zealand produced a high-scoring thriller in the first ODI of the three-match series in Hyderabad. In the 100 overs of the game, approximately 700 runs were scored. But in the end, Team India held their nerve to pull off a nail-biting win.

Chasing the target of 350 runs, New Zealand fell short by just 12 runs and got all out for 337. India won the game and has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Shubman Gill was adjudged the "Man of the Match" for his brilliant century.

Gill became the youngest player to score a ODI double century and made 208 runs off 149 balls, with 19 fours and nine sixes. He became the fifth Indian and eighth overall batter to touch the 200-run mark in an ODI innings. He helped India post a big total of 349/8.

After the win, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma along with Ishan Kishan welcomed Gill to the elite club of batters with an ODI double century. Rohit has three double centuries in the ODIs, while Ishan scored the fastest ODI double century against Bangladesh in December when he scored 210 runs.

During their chat, Rohit trolls Ishan and asked hilariously, "Ishan yaar, apne 200 bana k teen match nahi khela yaar? (why despite scoring 200 you sat out for 3 games?" Ishan was quick to respond to it and gave a funny reply and said, "Bhaiya yeh to aap btaoge, captain to aap the naa."

Notably, after scoring the fastest ODI double century, Ishan had to make way because Rohit came into the team as an opener. It forced the left-hander to sit on the bench against Sri Lanka. However, he batted in the middle order against New Zealand because KL Rahul was not part of the team, which let Ishan feature in the playing XI.
