Babar Azam breaks Virat Kohli's record

Looks like Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam is not stopping as the influencial Pakistan skipper has now recorded a new record to his name, overtaking India's captain Virat Kohli.

The Pakistan cricket team are going through the best of its recent form and having a roll in the T20 World Cup 2021 as they remain unbeaten in the competition after defeating Afganistan in their previous match and 3rd match of the T20 World Cup 2021.

During the match, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has created a new record to his name. Babar Azam played a inning of 51 runs in the match, as a result, the Pakistan skipper has now completed 1000 T20 runs as Pakistan captain in just 26 innings, overtaking Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli, who did so in 30 innings.

Behind them in the list is, South Africa cricket team's former captain Faf du Plessis, Australia captain Aaron Finch and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who did so in 31, 32 and in 36 innings respectively.

Talking of the match, Pakistan registered a 5 wickets win over Afganistan. Mohammad Nabi had won the toss and elected to ball first.

The Afganistan team was restricted to 147 runs in their 20 overs with Nabi and Gulbadin Naib scoring 35 runs each. 2 wickets for Imad Wasim, 1 each for Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan.

Pakistan had lost Mohammad Rizwan early. Then Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman stretched a partnership before Fakhar was dismissed. Babar went on to score 51 runs, but the finishing touch was given by Asif Ali, who smashed 25 runs of 7 balls, including 4 sixes in the 19th over. Pakistan chased down the target in 19 overs with 5 wickets still in hand.

Pakistan will next take on Namibia and Scotland on the 2nd of November and on the 7th of November to wrap off their Super 12 campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021.
