"Babar Azam seems mature"- Sehwag highlights difference between Babar and previous Pakistan captains

Virender Sehwag recently heaped praise on Babar Azam during his appearance on Cricbuzz Live Hindi. The former Indian opener believes that Babar is one of the most mature cricketers to have captained Pakistan at the international level.

Not many considered Pakistan as favorites to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 after seeing their performances in the warm-up matches. However, the Men in Green have silenced their critics by topping the Group 2 standings.

Pakistan started their campaign with a historic victory against India and then registered wins against New Zealand, Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland to set up a semifinal match with the second-placed team of Group 1, Australia.

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag reckoned that Babar Azam’s captaincy has played a huge role in Pakistan’s success at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

"Previous captains of Pakistan were a little bossy. They used to think they were the only boss of the team. But Babar Azam is different. He knows how to use the players he has. This is why we have not seen any change in the Pakistan team. Old captains of Pakistan used to say if we win against India, we have won the World Cup. Babar Azam seems mature. After the win against India, he said we aim to win the T20 World Cup,” Virender Sehwag explained on Cricbuzz Live Hindi.

Can Babar Azam lead Pakistan to their second T20 World Cup title?

To date, only the West Indies team has won the ICC T20 World Cup twice. Pakistan had won it once in 2009.

If Babar Azam’s men can win two more matches in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, they can join the Men in Maroon in the elite club of teams to have won the ICC T20 World Cup twice. It will be interesting to see if Pakistan can win.
