Best combined playing XI of Ranji Trophy 2022/23

Ranji Best XI 2023

Ranji Trophy 2022/23 recently ended with Saurashtra winning the competition. It was a fine event for a few cricketers. On that note, in this article, we take a look at the best combined playing XI of the Ranji Trophy 2022/23.

In recent months, the Indian selectors have had a keen eye on domestic performances apart from IPL. Moreover, the Indian Test Team could undergo a transition after the WTC final. Hence, a good performance in the ongoing Ranji Trophy is a good sign for some of the players. They would now want to do well in IPL, if they have a contract, to further catch the eye of the selectors.

Openers: Mayank Agarwal and Dhruv Shorey

Mayank Agarwal and Dhruv Shorey are the openers in this best combined playing XI of the Ranji Trophy 2022/23. Although Mayank started slow, he made up for it with some fine knocks in the end. He also made a double century in the semis with a lot of wickets falling at the other end. Dhruv Shorey also had a fine outing in the Ranji Trophy.

Middle-Order: Prashant Chopra (WK), Anustup Majumdar, Arpit Vasavada and Sachin Baby

Prashant Chopra opens the innings but for the balance of the squad, he bats at No.3. He also would keep wickets for this unit. Anustup Majumdar was a good batting option for West Bengal in the middle order. Arpit Vasavada led Saurashtra well in the absence of Jaydev Unadkat. He also made a double century in the semis. Sachin Baby appeared to be in good form in this season and hence, finds a place here.

All-Rounders: Jalaj Saxena and Shams Mulani

Jalaj Saxena and Shams Mulani are the all-rounders in this best combined playing XI of the Ranji Trophy 2022/23. Jalaj Saxena picked 50 wickets while Mulani collected 46 scalps this season. Both these players are at the top of the list of highest wicket-takers for this season. Wherever possible, they also helped the team with the bat in their hand.

Bowlers: Akash Deep, Avesh Khan and Baltej Singh

In the pace attack, we have Akash Deep, Avesh Khan and Baltej Singh. This Ranji season was dominated by spinners but these pacers stood out with their performances. Of course, we can have a spinner in this department but considering the impact that these three had, we have them in this XI.
