Former Sunrisers Hyderabad star Bipul Sharma has decided to call it a day on his Indian cricketing career. He is a spin-bowling all-rounder who won the Indian Premier League trophy with the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the year 2016.

Bipul Sharma played a huge role in SRH’s IPL 2016 championship win. He played seven matches, scoring 51 runs at a strike rate of 204. He also took three wickets for the Orange Army, including that of AB de Villiers in the IPL 2016 Final.

However, Sharma’s IPL career ended soon after. He played his last IPL match in the 2017 season, where he scored 31 runs in three innings and picked up three wickets with the ball.

He bowls left-arm spin and bats left-handed. Not many fans would know that Bipul Sharma made his IPL debut back in the year 2010. He was a member of the Punjab Kings squad back then.

In his latest Instagram post, Bipul Sharma thanked both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings for showing faith in his bowling and batting skills. He announced his retirement from Indian cricket with the aim of playing cricket in the United States now.

Bipul Sharma is not the first Indian cricketer to take this route

While Bipul Sharma has grabbed the headlines with his decision to quit Indian cricket and make a career in the USA, fans should note that before him, several players like Unmukt Chand, Siddharth Trivedi, Smit Patel, Sunny Sohal and Harmeet Singh have also taken this decision.

In fact, Chand and Patel even played in the overseas T20 leagues. Chand became the first Indian cricketer to earn a Big Bash League contract earlier this year, while Patel was in the Caribbean Premier League. It will be interesting to see how the USA cricket team shapes up in future.
