Chennai Super Kings welcomes Lucknow Super Giants IPL 2022

One of the two new Indian Premeir League (IPL)'s franchise, the Lucknow based team officially unveiled their name through their social media, and received a grand welcome by the other IPL franchises.

The BCCI officially completed the process of the selling of the two new IPL franchises. RPSG Group owned Dr Sanjiv Goenka won the bidding for the Lucknow franchise for a huge sum of 7090 crore.

The team has officially now unveiled the name of the team yesterday through their social media handle. Team owner Sanjiv Goenka confirmed that the franchise will be known as the Lucknow Super Giants.

Fans of the IPL now may remember Rising Pune SuperGiants, the team that existed for 2 years, and was also owned by RPSG Group. The team also had MS Dhoni as their captain for the first season.

The franchise received a grand welcome from the fans and from the other franchises as well, especially a special message from Chennai Super Kings.

Referring back to the connection when current CSK captain led the Rising Pune SuperGiants, CSK official tweet handle tweeted, "Super Name Machi (winking emojis)."

There is a special focus on the word Super, where they are trying to mention or highlight the similarity between their team name and the Lucknow franchise's name.

Lucknow franchise also reacted to CSK's welcome message by retweeted the post with winking emojis of their own and a MS Dhoni gif.

How Rajasthan Royals welcomed Lucknow Super Giants

Not only did CSK, but also other teams also sent out welcome messages for the franchise, including Rajasthan Royals, who tried to pull their leg by tweeting, "Pun(e) intended", referring to the Pune franchise.

But the Lucknow franchise's social media admin gave them a befitting reply by retweeting, "With all due respect, we missed you those 2 years."

Basically, here the admin trying to turn our focus to the year 2016 and 2017 when Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings were banned from IPL for 2 years and Rising Pune SuperGiants and Gujarat Lions replaced them.

Lucknow Super Giants have also confirmed the signing of KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi as their 3 players, with KL Rahul named the captain. Andy Flower will be the team's Head Coach, while 2-time IPL winning captain Gautam Gambhir will be the team mentor.
