CSK CEO reveals if the team will sign any player in the mid-season transfer window

The Chennai Super Kings struggled to perform well in IPL 2020’s first half as they could record only two wins in their first seven matches. The mid-season transfer window opened after the first half of the season culminated as the fans expected the Chennai-based franchise to sign a few players.

However, CSK did not announce anything about the mid-season transfer and took the field against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their eight fixture. The Super Kings emerged victorious against the Orange Army, thereby silencing their critics.

The fans still have a question if the Chennai Super Kings will go for a mid-season transfer or not, but the CEO of CSK, Kasi Viswanathan has put a full stop to all the question marks. Here’s what he said during his recent interview with ANI.

“CSK has never brought or released players in the mid-season transfer window and we have honestly not even gone through the rules and regulations that come into play if we are looking at a transfer. We are not looking at any player.”

He also spoke about Imran Tahir during the interview and mentioned that the IPL 2019 Purple Cap winner might get into the playing XI during the second phase of the season because the wickets in the UAE were getting slower and slower. Giving his view on the new mid-season transfer window rule, Viswanathan continued:

“It is a competition after all and I don’t think anyone would want to loan players to another franchise. Some might be playing and others might not, but all players are picked at the auction with numerous plans in mind and for different situations that might arise during the course of the tournament. You do not go in with just Plan A. You have an A, B, C, and D.”

Thus, the CSK franchise will not opt for any mid-season transfers and continue playing with their existing bunch of players.
