CSK's Recent Tweet Triggers Doubts About Captaincy Change Ahead Of IPL 2022
As per a few rumours, Chennai Super Kings is pondering over handing the captaincy duties to Ravindra Jadeja from IPL 2022. This is to ensure a smooth transition of leadership from MS Dhoni to Jaddu. In line with this, a recent tweet by the franchise triggers doubts that the rumours could as well turn out to be true.
A hint about captaincy change?
MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the Indian Premier League. Although many expected him to retire after IPL 2021, the legendary cricketer confirmed that he will take part next season. That said, it will only be a matter of very few seasons before MSD hangs up his boots.
MS Dhoni is a team man and it is said that he wants things to run smoothly at CSK after he retires. Hence, it is reported that he could give the captaincy to Jaddu and help him on the field from IPL 2022. The latest tweet by Chennai Super Kings also hints at the same.

Few users deny the claim
That said, one section of the fans have shut down the rumours by saying that the tweet had nothing to do with a captaincy change. A few days ago, the CSK Twitter account completed 8M followers. Since Ravindra Jadeja's jersey number is 8 and MS Dhoni's is 7, the Twitter handle might have used the picture to denote that they have increased their follower count from 7M to 8M. This argument makes complete sense and hence, the debate has diluted a bit.
7M to 8M followers.

Dhoni's jersey no - 7
Jadeja's jersey no - 8
You can only see Jadeja's jersey no. which is 8. CSK has completed 8M followers on twitter.
I just hope that it's that simple. https://t.co/BMbxdroMr1
Nevertheless, it might be possible that MSD might quit captaincy. It would be unfair to ask Jaddu to lead in the future seasons without having the right experience. By having Dhoni in the XI, Jaddu can learn on the job and be ready to do the task on his own once MSD retires.
