"Keep assessing from behind the wicket...."- MS Dhoni reveals how he motivates the team during pressure situation

The 24th game of the Indian Premier League produced yet another thriller when Chennai Super Kings took on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. It was a high-scoring thriller, with over 444 runs scored in 40 overs.

A total of 33 sixes were hit in the game, which is the joint-most in an IPL game. Chennai batted first and scored the second-highest total of the IPL 2023. They made 226/6 in the first inning. Meanwhile, at one stage, it looked like RCB would chase that total when Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell were going.

But MS Dhoni kept his and waited for the batters to make mistakes; in the end, it happened, and CSK came into the game. Eventually, they won it by eight runs in the end. After the thrilling win, Dhoni spoke about his plans and also backed the young bowlers.

He said, "It is a difficult one for the youngsters, especially at this time of the year with the dew around. But they are working hard. I keep assessing from behind the wicket, I am always involved in what needs to be done rather than thinking about the result."

Batting first, CSK lost in-form Ruturaj Gaikwad (3) early. But Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane (37 off 20) added 74 runs for the second wicket. Then, Conway added another 80 runs with Shivam Dube for the third wicket. Dube scored 52 off 27, with two fours and five sixes.

Conway ended with 83 off 45. In reply, RCB lost Virat Kohli (6) and Mahipal Lomror (0) for just 15 runs. But then, Du Plessis and Maxwell added 126 runs off 61 balls for the third wicket. The RCB skipper made 62 off 33, while Maxwell scored 76 off 36. As soon as both got out, RCB lost momentum. In the end, they only reached 218/8 and fell short by 8 runs.
