"Would like to play for CSK for two reasons"- Sunil Gavaskar on why he wants to play in the IPL under MS Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings have been one of the top teams in the franchise cricket history. They have won four titles in the Indian Premier League and are only behind the Mumbai Indians with five titles. It is MS Dhoni who has led the Yellow Army since the inaugural season in 2008.

MSD is probably the most successful captain for India and led the team to all three major white-ball trophies. He has led India to the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, and Champions Trophy wins. He is known for his calm approach, which is why many cricketers have desired to play under him.

Former legend Sunil Gavaskar has also made a huge revelation. On the 16th anniversary of the cash-rich league, he chose two teams that he wants to play for in the IPL. He has picked MI and CSK to be those two teams.

In a discussion on Star Sports, he said, "Mumbai Indians, who else? If not, then I would like to play for Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings for two reasons, firstly, the Chennai owners are passionate about cricket. And the second big reason would be to sit in the dressing room with MS Dhoni and see how he captains the team."

MS Dhoni is the only captain to lead a franchise in all seasons since 2018. He has led CSK to 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021 league wins. Furthermore, he has led the Yellow Army to nine IPL finals in 13 seasons, which makes him the most consistent captain in the league.

Adding to that, Gavaskar also named a few of his former teammates, whom he wants to see play in the IPL. He picked Kapil Dev, Sandeep Patil, and BS Chandrashekhar, who are best suited for the shorter format and can be successful in the competition.
