Virat Kohli names two GOATs of IPL; leaves out Dhoni, Rohit or Gayle
Virat Kohli needs no introduction to the game of cricket. He is certainly among the best in the white-ball format. Especially in the shorter format, his numbers are just unbelievable. He is the highest run scorer in the T20 internationals and also the leading scorer in the Indian Premier League.
He has scored 6844 runs in 220 innings at an average of 36.59 and a strike rate of 129.67. Virat has also scored five centuries and 47 half-centuries. He has played with some of the biggest names in the IPL.
The likes of Chris Gayle, MS Dhoni, AB De Villiers, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, and many more big names have played in the cash-rich league, and it is very difficult to choose the best among all these. Virat also believes in choosing the best among all of them.
In a recent Q&A session on Jio Cinema, Virat was asked to pick the GOAT in the IPL. The former RCB skipper couldn't pick a single player. Hence, he named two players who are the GOATs in the league. Virat referred to AB De Villiers and Lasith Malinga as the GOATs in the IPL.
Notably, Virat and De Villiers shared a special bond and were teammates for a long time. De Villiers has scored 5162 runs in 170 innings at 39.70 and 151.68, with three centuries and 40 half-centuries. Meanwhile, Malinga retired as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament. He ended up with 170 wickets in just 122 games.
Malinga was one of the best bowlers that played the white-ball format and is a legend in the league. He has won a number of games for MI single-handedly, which is also the case with De Villiers for the RCB. Furthermore, Virat was also asked a few other questions.
