"Last phase of my career"- MS Dhoni gives a shocking statement on his IPL retirement plans after SRH game

Chennai Super Kings registered another clinical performance on Friday at Chepauk Stadium. CSK locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad and completed a 7-wicket win to collect two important points. Though MS Dhoni didn't get a chance to bat, his work behind the wickets last night was commendable.

MSD is known as one of the best finishers that the game has ever seen. Even at the age of 41, he hasn't looked dull. In fact, he is performing as well as any other player in the competition. He has carried on with the same intent this season as he used to over the years.

The CSK skipper has played a few cameos this season, including a brilliant one against the Rajasthan Royals, where he almost pulled off an incredible chase in the last over. But on Friday, he showed that he is equally brilliant with his gloves as well.

Every season, fans hope he will come and play in the yellow jersey. Notably, in a CSK event, when asked about his retirement plans, Dhoni said, "There's lot of time to take that call, I don't want to put pressure on the coach right now."

But on Friday, in the post-match presentation, he gave a massive hint about his retirement. When Harsha Bhogle asked him about how he deals with the love and support he gets from the fans when he comes to Chennai, Dhoni said,

"All said and done, it's the last phase of my career, however long I play. After two years, the fans have had the opportunity to come here and watch, feels good to be here. The crowd has given us a lot of love and affection. Not getting enough chances to bat, but no complaints."

Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2019 and currently only plays in the Indian Premier League. There were some speculations that it would be his last season, but he hasn't confirmed anything officially. But the way he is performing, it is clear that there is a lot of cricket left in him.
