David Willey ruled out of IPL 2023; Bangalore roped in veteran RCB Star as replacement

The second half of the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League has begun, and all ten teams are fighting for a place in the playoffs. Though the real competition is between the seven teams apart from SRH, DC, and KKR.

With the competition getting tougher, every team is planning to rectify the mistakes they made in the first leg of the tournament. Meanwhile, amid all the progress, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a huge setback when English pacer David Willey was ruled out of the competition due to a fractured toe and an adductor strain.

The franchise made an announcement on Monday. Willey played four games this season and picked up three wickets. Not just this, but the franchise has also named his replacement and roped in veteran Indian all-rounder and former RCB star Kedar Jadhav for the remainder of the tournament.

Jadhav made his IPL debut in 2010 and has played for six franchises so far. He was also part of the RCB team in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. In 2016, he played four games, while in 2017, he scored 267 runs at an average and strike rate of 22.25 and 143.54 in 13 games.

Later, he joined the Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and played until 2020. He went unsold in 2022 and will make his IPL comeback after 2021. So far, he has played 93 games and scored 1196 runs, including four half-centuries. RCB needed an experienced player in the middle order, and Jadhav can certainly fill that role.

The franchise signed him for his base price of INR 1 crore. RCB is currently sitting in 6th place on the table with four wins and four losses. On Monday, they will face the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. LSG won the last game against RCB by one wicket.
