Watch: Ruturaj Gaikwad registers world record with seven sixes in one over against UP in Vijay Hazare Trophy

incredible, just incredible. The game of cricket is full of surprises, but sometimes it can surprise you with some unbelievable things that can only be possible in dreams. On Monday, one such event got done when Maharastra locked horns with Uttar Pradesh in the second quarterfinal of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

It started when UP won the toss and put Maharastra to bat first. Maharastra opener Ruturaj Gaikwad went to register this name in the record book and achieve a milestone that hasnot been ever achieved.

The young opener carried his bat through the innings and made a brilliant, unbeaten double century. He made 220 off just 159 balls, with 10 fours and 16 sixes. But more than his double century, the news of his sixes has caused chaos on social media.

Gaikwad hit seven consecutive sixes in just one over. It was the 49th over, and left-arm orthodox Shiva Singh was bowling it. But it ended as a nightmare for him as he was taken to the cleaners by Gaikwad.

Adding to that injury, he also bowled a no-ball on the fifth ball of the over, which gave Gaikwad one extra ball, and he struck that ball for six as well.

With this, the right-hander breaks the record of Zimbabwe's Elton Chigumbura for scoring most runs in one over in List A cricket. Chigumbura scored 39 runs off Alauddin Babu in 2013 during a Dhaka Premier Division match.

On the other hand, the bowler Shiva has now conceded (43) the joint-most runs in a single over along with New Zealand's bowler Willem Ludick. Batting first, Maharastra made a total of 330/5 in their 50 overs, while Gaikwad made 220 of those.

This is a do-or-die game for both teams, and a win in this game will assure a qualification to the semi-finals of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
