Rishabh Pant becomes the second fastest Indian batter to join the elite list of Sachin, MS Dhoni, Rohit and Sehwag
Rishabh Pant hasn't been in a good white-ball form for India recently. He has failed to play a decent inning in last few occasions. But when it comes to red-ball cricket, the 24-year-old is in a totally different league.
A few glimpses he showed on the first day of the first test between India and Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. Coming out to bat when India was struggling at 48/3 in 19.3 overs, he took on the bowlers and smashed a few boundaries.
Pant was looking good for yet another big test inning, but perished in order to up the anty. He got out after scoring 46 runs off just 45 balls, including six fours and two sixes, at a strike rate of 102.22.
During his innings, Pant also achieved a landmark as he has completed 50 sixes in his test career. He achieved this feat with a six on the full-toss by Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the 32nd over of the inning over deep mid-wicket.
Notably, Pant became the second fastest batter to smash 50 sixes in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in 51 Test innings. Ahead of him is the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, who is the fastest Indian batter to achieve this feat.
Rohit reached 50 sixes in his test career in 50 innings. Meanwhile, Pant has joined an elite club of Indian batters with 50-plus sixes in red-ball cricket. The likes of Virender Sehwag, Kapil Dev, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, and Ravindra Jadeja did it prior to him.
On the other hand, the Indian wicket-keeper also completed 4000 international runs in his career. He has scored 4021 runs in 136 innings in his international career, with six centuries and 18 half-centuries across all three formats.
