Sydney Thunder embarrassed with 15 all out vs Adelaide Strikers in BBL; Registers lowest T20 score ever
The Big Bash League 2022–23 is underway, and over the years it has produced some of the most memorable and breathtaking performances. But nothing can compare to what the world saw on Friday. It happened in the fifth game of the tournament.
The Sydney Thunder locked horns with the Adelaide Strikers at the Sydney Showground Stadium in Sydney. The Strikers won the toss and decided to bat first. They didn't have a good outing with the bat and only managed 139 for 9 in their 20 overs. For the Thunders, Fazalhaq Farooqi took 3/20 with the ball.
The Sydney Thunder were favourites going into the break. But the match turned when the chase began. Chasing the target, the Thunder had the worst nightmare with the bat. The whole team could only play 5.5 overs and registered the lowest innings total in a T20 game.
They got all out for just 15 runs out of which three runs came in extra. Brendan Doggett was the highest scorer, scoring four runs. None of them could cross the 10-run mark, and the Sydney Thunder registered this humiliating record to their name.
Notably, the previous record was held by Turkey when they made 21 runs against the Czech Republic in 2019. Interestingly, the Sydney Thunder batting lineup has the likes of Alex Hales, Rilee Rossouw, Daniel Sams, and Alex Ross in their lineup.
