Big Blow for India; Rohit Sharma ruled out of 2nd test vs BAN
Team India thrashed Bangladesh in the first test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, by 188 runs to take an unassailable lead in the two-match series. The next game is scheduled to be played on December 22 (Thursday) at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
After winning the first test, there were a few rumours that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was likely to join the squad for the second test. Notably, Rohit got injured in the second ODI against Bangladesh on December 7 while fielding at the slip.
After the game, he went back to Mumbai in order to consult a specialist. But on Monday, some reports confirmed that Rohit will not be part of the second test. Hence, the Indian skipper has been ruled out of the remaining games as he hasn't completely recovered.
According to the report on Cricbuzz, it has been learned that the Indian think tank doesn't want to take any risks with the Indian captain, who has a tight schedule to follow. Thus, they have decided that Rohit will not be part of the second test as well.
The reports also suggest that Rohit is fit enough to do his batting, but the major concern is when he comes to field. As a result, he will not feature in the last game of the tour either. However, it should not much affect the combination on the Indian side.
As they had already won the first game convincingly. It was young opener Shubman Gill, who opened with stand-in captain KL Rahul and did an amazing job. Gill scored 20 and 110 in two innings and scored his maiden test century.
With Rohit Sharma out, the team is likely to stick with the same starting lineup as in the previous game. With a win in the first game, India made to the second spot in the World Test Championship and need to win the second tests as well to firm their spot in the table.
