Ex-IND opener picks five Top T20Is batter of 2022; leaves out Babar Azam

The year 2022 saw a number of brilliant performances across the world. The T20 World Cup 2022 had some memorable moments, which were seen by the fans. Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra chose top five T20I batter from 2022.

A number of players showed great form in 2022. Indian "Mr. 360" Suryakumar Yadav and the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, then Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, also did pretty well throughout the season. However, the former opener named the five star batters who were in brilliant form in the last 12 months.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash named five top T20I batters that have shown their best form in 2022. He has picked Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rizwan, New Zealand opener Devon Conway, and Zimbabwe's all-rounder Sikander Raza.

SKY has scored the most runs in 2022 and is the No. 1 ranked T20I batter. He has scored 1164 runs in 31 games at an average of 46.56 and a brilliant strike rate of 187.43. Meanwhile, Virat was the highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup 2022 with 296 runs at an average of 98.67 with four half-centuries.

Surprisingly, the former Indian opener hasn't included Pakistan skipper Babar Azma in his list. He has replaced him with the Kiwi opener, Conway. He pointed out that Conway has had some brilliant performances in T20Is this year and said that he might take SKY's top spot in the rankings.

Aakash said, "Going by the stats, Babar Azam should be the No.5 but I am not including him in my list. Sorry! but I can’t take him in my team. I am including Devon Conway’s name instead at his place. He would have overtaken SKY(Suryakumar Yadav) to claim the top position."

The year 2022 had some other brilliant performances, and it was an eventful year in the shorter format. Furthermore, Aakash also said that the Kiwi opener can dethrone Suryakumar from the top position. SKY will be part of the Indian team for three T20Is against Sri Lanka starting on January 3.
