"You can easily afford a driver"- Ex-IND Legend reacts to Rishabh Pant's Car Accident

The cricket world got shocked when Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant met with a horrible accident on Friday while going to his hometown of Roorkee, Haridwar, from Delhi. Many from the cricket world and outside wished him a speedy recovery and showed concern over his health.

Pant sustained injuries to his knee, forehead, back, ankle, and back. The car collided with the divider and caught fire, while the 25-year-old broke the windscreen to escape the burning vehicle. He was helped by the Roadway bus driver and some locals and was rushed to the hospital.

Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev, who led India to the 1983 ODI World Cup, also expressed his concern over Pant's health and said that he could have hired a driver to avoid the accident. In an interview with ABP News, he said that youngsters are obsessed with luxury cars and want to drive them to the limit.

He also recalled the time when he met with a bike accident in his days and said that after that his brother didn't let him touch the bike. He also wished Pant a speedy recovery.

Kapil said, "Yes, you have a good-looking car with great speeds but you have to be careful. You can easily afford a driver, you don’t have to drive it alone. I understand that one has hobbies or even passion for such things, it’s natural to have it at his age, but you also have responsibilities. Only you can take care of yourself."

As per the medical report, the Indian wicketkeeper is out of danger but will take 3-6 months to recover, at least. His MRI scans are normal. The doctor, Dr. Sushil Nagar, confirmed that there is no fracture but that there is a ligament tear on his right knee, which would need to be scanned to know the extent of the injuries.

Pant has been rulled out of upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy and there are high chances that he might miss the next edition of the Indian Premier League as well.
