Watch: "Powell does MSD"- Rovman Powell leaves fans stunned with MS Dhoni's "helicopter shot" against Keiron Pollard in ILT20
The inaugural edition of the International League T20 (ILT20 2023) is underway, and it has gone as per expectations, with six teams competing to become the first ILT20 winner. Dubai Capitals has had a fair run so far with two wins in five games, and they are in the race for the playoffs.
On Sunday, they locked horns with MI Emirates at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The game was a high-scoring match that ended in favour of the Capitals. Batting first, they posted a huge total of 222/3 in their first inning.
Joe Root got them off to a fast start, scoring 82 runs off 54 balls, including eight fours and three sixes. But the end was even more exciting, with DC skipper Rovman Powell providing them with a flying finish. He made 97 off just 41 balls, with four boundaries and 10 sixes.
It was Powell's show in Abu Dhabi, as he played some powerful shots and took the MI bowlers apart. He smashed MI skipper Kieron Pollard to all parts of the ground in the final over of the inning. He smashed three sixes and added 20 runs in the final over. However, the shot of the match came on the second ball, when he hit Pollard for a six on the leg side.
That shot had a little MS Dhoni in it, as Powell used his hands like MSD used to do it while playing his signature shot. Pollard and other players were stunned to watch him play the "helicopter shot" and stared at him. The video of the shot has also gone viral on the internet, and everyone is loving it.
