"If team wants to me to bat at..."- KL Rahul finally breaks his silence on competition with Gill as opener vs AUS

The biggest talk of the town is the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy between No. 1 ranked Australia and No. 2 ranked India. Both teams have some of the biggest names in the game who will lock horns with each other.

The first game is scheduled to start on Thursday at 9:30 p.m. at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. For India, it is a must-win series in order to qualify for the World Test Championship final, while Australia, which hasn't won a test series in India since 2003, will look to win their only second test series in India.

However, the hosts will have some concerns ahead of the first test. Some injuries and some players who are struggling with their form will be a major concern. It starts with India's opening combination. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will be the first-choice opener, but the issue is with his partner.

The Indian management needs to make a decision between KL Rahul, who has struggled recently, and Shubman Gill, who is in the best shape of his life. If India chooses Gill, then Rahul will have to sit or bat in the middle. However, Rahul opened up about his batting position in a press conference on Tuesday.

He stated that he is perfectly fine batting in the middle order if the team desires.Rahul said, "If the team wants to me to bat in the middle, I am ready to do it."

The 30-year-old made his test debut in the 2014 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia and batted in the middle order in his debut game. But his current batting form will be a concern for the team because he hasn't had good numbers across all three formats for India. On the other hand, Gill has scored a century in all three formats within the last two months.

Rahul also discussed India's plan to go with three spinners in the playing XI. He said that they could go with three spinners because of the pitches, but the final playing XI will be decided after assisting the pitch.
