Australian opener David Warner has confirmed that he would register for the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. BCCI recently concluded the sale for the two new franchises that would be making their debut next season. Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be the two cities that will have an IPL franchise starting IPL 2022. The mega-auction is likely to happen in December or January.

David Warner struggled for form in IPL 2021

Warner is one of the surprising underperformers in IPL 2021. An IPL legend, Warner struggled to get going in the competition. To make matters worse, he was sacked as the captain and was also dropped from the team.

Warner has been very vocal of his time at SRH in the recent season. He agreed that as things stand, he is unlikely to be retained for the next season.

The Aussie will register for IPL 2022 auctions

David Warner has confirmed that he will put his name for the upcoming mega-auction. Speaking to SEN radio, Warner said, "I will put my name in the auction. By the signs of the recent IPL, I won't be retained by the Sunrisers, so I'm looking forward to a fresh start."

BCCI is likely to allow a maximum of only two overseas retentions for each franchise. Hence, SRH would rather retain Rashid Khan and Kane Williamson in that scenario. Therefore, David Warner might be released by the franchise.

That said, the Aussie will be a prime target for the new franchises and a few of the existing ones that are looking for a new captain. Warner's recent form has not been that good but he holds immense experience in the format and the competition. Hence, he is likely to command a big bid at the IPL 2022 auctions.
