Deep Dasgupta not satisfied with BCCI's decision to pick only 25 players for SL tour
Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta was disappointed after the BCCI did not pick Rajasthan Royals stars Jaydev Unadkat and Rahul Tewatia in the Indian squad for the upcoming Sri Lankan tour.
Deep Dasgupta gave his views on the Indian squad on his YouTube channel, saying that the BCCI should not have picked only 25 players. In his opinion, they should have gone with 27 players, with Rahul Tewatia and Jaydev Unadkat being the other two names.
“You have picked a squad of 25-20 players and five net bowlers. You could have included a couple of other players too, what did they do wrong? Players like Jaydev Unadkat and even Rahul Tewatia, who was part of the squad during the last series, could have been included. Wouldn’t have made any difference to take 27 instead of 25,” Deep Dasgupta said.
In case you didn’t know, the BCCI announced a second-string squad for the Sri Lankan tour on Thursday (June 10). The selectors named deserving players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chetan Sakariya, Nitish Rana and Devdutt Padikkal in the squad.
However, Rahul Tewatia, who was a member of the Indian squad that faced England in the 5-match T20I series at home lost his place in the team. Similarly, Jaydev Unadkat, who did well for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021, did not receive a place.
