Watch: Rishabh Pant loses his cool when asked about his comparison with Sehwag in white-ball cricket
Rishabh Pant has been receiving a lot of criticism for a while now. Things have totally turned around, from him leading the Indian team to fans bashing him for his form. However, Pant was benched for most of the games in the T20 World Cup.
But he got two games but couldn't make the most of it. Although he was given a chance to perform on the New Zealand tour and silence all those critics. But he has failed miserably on this tour as well.
Despite playing in all six games (T20Is and ODIs), the Delhi Capitals skipper hasn't had good numbers. Even in the last game of the tour, he was dismissed for just 10 off 16 balls. And in a pre-match conversation with veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle, Pant was seen losing his cool when asked about his white-ball form.
He was asked about a comparison between him and one of the best Indian openers, Virendra Sehwag. Notably, Pant's red-ball record is way better than his white-ball record, and it is expected of him to do well in white-ball cricket as well.
Bhogle asked Pant, "I had asked the same question to Sehwag, now I’ll ask you. Looking at you, we get the feeling that white-ball cricket is your USP but it’s your Test record that is better…"

To that Pant replied, "Sir, records are just numbers. My white-ball record is not bad either…" Bhogle intervened saying "I’m not saying it’s bad, I’m comparing it with the Test numbers."
However, after that, he wasn't able to do much in the third ODI either. Despite playing in every game, he hasn't played any significant innings. On the other hand, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are warming the bench, which has also put pressure on Pant.
Although Pant's place in the T20Is is not fixed, and he hasn't had consistent chances. But being an international cricketer, one needs to grab whatever little chances he gets.
