MS Dhoni is all set to rewrite his name in IPL record book with a game vs RR on Wednesday

The 17th game of the 2023 Indian Premier League will see a contest between two former champions. It will be a clash between both 2008 finalists. Chennai Super Kings will take on Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

This will be the second game for CSK at home this season, which means CSK fans will be able to witness their team and skipper MS Dhoni playing in front of them. Notably, with this match, CSK skipper will rewrite history in the IPL. The four-time champion reached the Chepauk Stadium after thrashing the record-time IPL winner Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.

The 17th game of the tournament on Wednesday will see MSD leading the Yellow Army for the record 200th time in the IPL. Dhoni is also the most capped player in the tournament and has been part of the CSK since the inaugural season in 2008.

With the match against RR, he will become the first player to lead an IPL franchise for 200 games in history. Meanwhile, he has been part of a total of 213 games as a captain, which includes teams like Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants.

As a captain, MSD has some impressive records, with a percentage of 58.96 in 213 games. In total, Dhoni has led his team to 125 wins and 87 defeats in the IPL. He has also scored 5004 runs in 236 games at an average and strike rate of 39.09 and 135.54, including 24 half-centuries.

He recently became the 7th player to touch the 5,000-run mark in the IPL after Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, and AB de Villiers. He also needs 57 runs to complete the 1500 T20 runs at the Chepauk Stadium. CSK has won two of their three games and is in fifth place on the table.
