MS Dhoni's CSK suffered another injury blow: After Deepak Chahar, an Overseas pacer ruled out for few weeks

On Wednesday, the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings suffered their second defeat of the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League against the Rajasthan Royals. Both teams produced a thrilling contest at the Chepauk Stadium, which ended in favour of Sanju Samson and his men.

Although Ravindra Jadeja and CSK skipper MS Dhoni almost pulled off an excellent win, Sandeep Sharma kept his cool and showed a brilliant display of bowling yorkers under pressure. Needing seven off three balls, he bowled three accurate yorkers, and CSK fell short by three runs.

Chasing 176 runs to win, CSK ended at 172/6 and lost the game. Chennai is now in fifth place with two wins and two losses in four games and a NRR of +0.225. But now just the game, Chennai had some other issues as well after the game.

After the game, head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed that Dhoni was nursing a knee injury during the RR game. Fleming also gave an update on other players' fitness, like Ben Stokes. However, he also confirmed that South African speedster Sisanda Magala is the latest to get injured.

The CSK head coach confirmed that Magala sustained an injury and is likely to miss the action for the next couple of weeks. Furthermore, he also said that Deepak Chahar is also out for a couple of weeks while Simarjeet Singh is recovering and Stokes is getting better.

Magala is the latest on this injury list and made his IPL debut a couple of games ago. He has played two games so far and taken one wicket. Fleming said, "For us again, it’s losing another player - that’s two games in a row - and we’re already pretty thin, so we’d like it (injuries) to stop. Magala’s hand was split, unfortunately, so he was unable to bowl those last two overs. And the same with Deepak Chahar in the last game, so we’re operating on pretty thin resources.."

Magala joined CSK as a replacement for Kyle Jamieson, who was ruled out ahead of the start of the IPL 2023. Mukesh Choudhary is another pacer who has been ruled out of the entire season, and the franchise picked Akash Singh as his replacement.
