"Haven't seen anyone better than..."- Imran Tahir picks best IPL finishers between MS Dhoni or De Villiers
It has been more than 15 years since the start of the biggest cricket franchise tournament, the Indian Premier League. Since its start in 2008, almost every big name has been featured in this league to showcase their T20 skills to the world.
Whether it is Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya, or Jacques Kallis from the previous era, or MS Dhoni, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, or Shane Watson from the recent generation, everyone has featured in this cash-rich league. Some players have found success, while others struggle to make an impact.
But whenever it comes to the best finisher in the league, the name of MS Dhoni comes to mind first. However, AB de Villiers is another player who has won countless games and finished the match. Now, former South African and CSK star Iman Tahir has picked the best finisher in the IPL between Dhoni and De Villiers.
Tahir has lauded his former South African teammate and said that he was the best in any situation in the game. In an interaction on Star Sports ahead of the RR vs CSK game on Thursday, the 44-year-old picked De Villiers.
He said, "You have put me under the pump, but as far as I think, I have not seen anyone better than ABD [AB de Villiers]. So, I would stick to him. I have not seen any bigger player than him, whether it’s finishing or building an innings at the top order. I have not seen any other player as special as him during my career."
The former leg-spinner has played with both players in his international and IPL careers. He was with the Chennai Super Kings for four seasons and was part of the 2018 and 2021 IPL-winning teams. He was the "Purple Cap" holder in 2018 with 26 wickets in 17 games.
