"They must have learnt.."- Shikhar Dhawan sends a strong message to players after India's 1-0 ODI series loss vs NZ

The three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand came to an unexpected end with the final two ODIs getting washed out due to rain. Thus, with a win in the first ODI by 7 wickets the hosts have also won the series 1-0.

Although New Zealand was crushing towards a win in the third ODI as well, the rain interruption saved India from suffering a defeat. Chasing the target of 220, the Kiwis were at 104/1 in just 18 overs. Thus, it was a lucky escape for Team India.

The Men in Blue will now travel to Bangladesh from here on to play a three-match ODI series along with two Tests. All the seniors who were rested on the New Zealand tour will be back with the side, and Rohit Sharma, along with KL Rahul (vice-captain) and Rahul Dravid (head coach), will lead the side.

However, following the cancellation of the third ODI due to rain, India's stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan spoke about the team's performance in the series and the path to the 2023 ODI World Cup.

He said, "It is important to pick up the details, like where to pitch the ball and the lengths. We are a young unit, and they must have learnt about bowling in the good-length areas. We were on the shorter side. Also, taking the partnerships deep, especially when it's overcast."

Furthermore, Dhawan also highlighted that India will play a series in Bangladesh with all the seniors back in the team, and pitches in Bangladesh will help the team and players adjust for the ODI World Cup, which is in India next year.

India will host the next edition of the ODI World Cup in 2023. The last time India co-hosted the tournament, they ended up winning it in 2011. However, India hasn't won an ICC tournament since 2013. So it will be a good chance for them to get their hands on the ICC trophy.
