"CSK can look him as future captain"- Suresh Raina names a player CSK should pick at auction

The mini-auction for the next edition of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to take place on December 23 in Kochi. All ten IPL franchises will enter the bidding war for their favourite players who can perform for them in the cash-rich league.

There are some big names in the auction that will come under the hammer. The likes of Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, Jason Holder, and Cameron Green are also some big superstars that will be in the auction. The four-time champion, Chennai Super Kings, will also look to grab some good players in the upcoming event.

CSK ended the 2022 season in 9th place with only four wins out of 14 group games. They were dealt with injuries to their vairous players and also the decision of changing the captaincy also didn't work for them.

As a result, after a horrible showing in the first half, CSK changed the captain from Ravindra Jadeja to MS Dhoni. However, as MSD has himself confirmed, the 2023 season will be his last season of the IPL, which means the franchise will also look for a player who can also lead the team in the future.

For that, the former CSK captain and IPL legend Suresh Raina has suggested a name that can prove to be a real asset for the four-time champions. Raina, who was part of the franchise in all the IPL seasons except the 2022 one, knows how the franchise and the team think.

Thus, his suggestion can be very important in the CSK's decision-making during the auction. In an interaction with Jio Cinema, Raina has named Sam Curran as an ideal player for CSK in the future.

He said, "CSK really want him in their set-up because he has done really well in the World Cup. He has got great leadership qualities as well. CSK can look for a captain in him in the future."

Curran was not part of the IPL 2022 due to injury but made a brilliant comeback in T20 World Cup. He took 13 wickets in 6 games, including 3/12 in the final against Pakistan. Curran was part of CSK in IPL 2020 and 2021. The franchise picked him up in 2020 for a price of INR 5.5 crore.

Furthermore, Raina also said that Curran's bowling will suit the Yellow Army, especially in Chennai. Former CSK star Robin Uthappa also said that CSK will be eager to invest in the English all-rounder, and Curran can also become the captain in the future.
