"Will not go under depression"- Sarfaraz Khan finally breaks his silence after his exclusion from Test side vs AUS in BGT series
After winning the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Team India will face New Zealand for three ODIs starting on January 18, followed by three T20Is. After that series, Australia will tour India for the four-match Border-Gavaskar test series starting on February 9.
The BCCI announced the squads for all three series on Friday, and all three squads have multiple changes. Prthvi Shaw made his comeback into the Indian team after 18 months and is in the T20I squad against New Zealand, whle Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan got their maiden test call.
However, one name that couldn't find a place in the team was Sarfaraz Khan, who has been scoring heavy runs on the domestic circuit. Despite back-to-back incredible performances in the domestic season, he couldn't get a call for the Indian team.
And now the Mumbai star has finally broken his silence and reacted to his exclusion. He told that he didn't sleep that night when the squads were announced, while also adding that he will never give up on his dream to play for India and will continue to work hard.
Sarfaraz said, "Everywhere I go, I hear murmurs that he will play for India soon. On social media, I have thousands of messages talking about my exclusion. I wasn’t able to sleep the whole night after selection. I kept asking why am I not there? But now after speaking to my father, I’m back to normal. I will never give up practice, I will not go under depression. Don’t worry, I will keep trying."
The upcoming BGT series against Australia is part of the ongoing World Test Championship, and India needs to win the series 3-0 or 3-1 at least to qualify for the WTC final. They can't afford to lose more than one game. Meanwhile, Australia has almost guaranteed a spot in the WTC final. They need just one win out of four against India to qualify.
