In a heartbreaking update for all fans of the Chennai Super Kings team, the franchise’s star batsman Faf du Plessis has suffered a groin injury right before the second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Faf du Plessis looked in fine touch in the competition as he scored a century for the team as well. However, it seems like he might need some rest before representing the Chennai Super Kings in the second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League.

According to Republic World, Faf du Plessis suffered the groin injury before St. Lucia Kings’ last league match of the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League that happened against the Barbados Royals last night. Fans might know that the Barbados Royals team is owned by the owners of the IPL franchise named Rajasthan Royals.

St. Lucia Kings lost to Barbados Royals in the absence of their skipper Faf du Plessis

In the absence of regular captain Faf du Plessis, the St. Lucia Kings played under the leadership of Spiceman Andre Fletcher. However, the team could not win the match against the Barbados Royals as the duo of Kyle Mayers and Glen Phillips stitched up a brilliant partnership.

Phillips will now head to the United Arab Emirates to play for the Rajasthan Royals in the second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. He has replaced Jos Buttler. Meanwhile, CSK fans await an official update on Faf du Plessis after he suffered the injury in CPL 2021.
