Former Gujarat player Karan Viradiya in line for USA debut
The USA Cricket team has consistently made new recruits from other nations to bolster its strength and ensure a bright future of the sport in the USA. The fans had seen how New Zealand’s Corey Anderson and Pakistan’s Sami Aslam decided to switch their nations and play for the USA Cricket team in future.
Similarly, a former Gujarat player Karan Viradiya is in line to make his debut for the United States of America soon. As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Karan had received a place in the 44-man squad that traveled to Texas in a selection camp for the Oman tri-series.
A few Indian cricket fans might remember that Karan Viradiya even made it to the India U-19 squad. However, when the officials came to know about his age fraud, the Gujarat-based player lost his place in the team.
The 26-year-old was born in Surat, and he played for Gujarat at various age group levels. Two years ago, Karan was the second-highest run-scorer in the Southern California Cricket Association Division One Competition.
Karan Viradiya has come into the eye of the selection committee now. So, it is likely that he will make his USA debut sooner rather than later.
Karan Viradiya is a right-handed batsman, who can also bowl right-arm off-spin. The fact that he earned a place in the India U-19 team shows that he possesses the talent to make it big. Although his chances of representing India are negligible now, Karan will try to make a name for himself with his performances for the USA Cricket team.
It will be interesting to see when Karan Viradiya will debut for the USA Cricket team. The USA does not have any international fixtures scheduled after the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the proceedings. The fans await an official update very soon from the USA Cricket team.
