Big Blow for SRH: Washington Sundar ruled out of remainder of IPL 2023 due to injury

It hasn't been a great season so far for the 2016 IPL winner, Sunrisers Hyderabad. They ended the last season at 8th place and that is the same story in the ongoing tournament as well. SRH has only won two out of seven games played in this season.

As a result, they are sitting in ninth place with a NRR of -0.725. It doesn't look great for the Orange Army because their star players are struggling to performance, which has been their biggest issue this season. Adding to that, the franchise suffered yet another blow, as star Indian all-rounder has been ruled out of the competition.

Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the IPL 2023, as he suffered a hamstring injury, which has now been confirmed by the franchise. SRH roped him in at a price of INR 8.50 crore in the auction in 2022.

This season, he has scored 60 runs in five innings and has taken three wickets at an economy rate of 8.26. The franchise announced it on Twitter, "Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to a hamstring injury. Speedy recovery, Washi."

This is not the first time that Sundar has missed a tournament or multiple games due to an injury. In the last season as well, he missed the second half of the competition due to injury. He has also missed number of games for India at the international level.

It will be a big setback for struggling Sunrisers as they have already lost their last three games in a row. SRH lost to Delhi Capitals in the last game on Monday at home by 7 runs. Now, they will face the same team in their next game on Saturday, April 29 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, which will be a do or die game for Aiden Markram and his men.
