"His wicket will be priority for Team India"- Wasim Jaffer points out a "huge threat" for India in 3rd ODI

India is currently playing a three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Team India is trailing by 1-0 after a 7-wicket loss in the first ODI, and the second game ended with no result due to rain. The third and final game is scheduled to be played on Wednesday in Christchurch.

It will be a must-win game for the Indians because a loss will mean a 2-0 series loss. Although a victory will not be the series win for them, it will end the series with a 1-1 tie. Thus, Shikhar Dhawan and his men will aim to cross the line in this game.

Speaking of the series, the second ODI got washed out with only 12.5 overs bowled, and the Indian team was at 89/1. However, New Zealand thrashed India in the first game at Eden Park.

Batting first, India made a good total of 306/7 in their 50 overs, but they couldn't defend that total, and the hosts chased it down with 17 balls to spare. And it was the 221-run partnership between Tom Latham and Kane Williamson that sealed the deal for the Black Caps.

Latham was the "Player of the Match" for his brilliant 145 not out from 104 balls, with 19 fours and 5 sixes. Former Indian test opener Wasim Jaffer also warned India ahead of the series decider on Wednesday and named a player who could be a potential threat to India.

In an interaction on ESPN Cricinfo, Jaffer said that Latham will be a huge threat for India, and the Indian team should look to contain him by bowling in better areas. He also added that Williamson can also make an impact.

Jaffer said, "Tom Latham is a huge threat to the Indian side, because of the way he operates in the middle overs against spin by counter-attacking. His wicket will be a priority for India. India should look to bowl better in the third ODI and try to come up with a better plan against Latham."

However, as with the second ODI, the forecast for the third ODI is also not good, and rain is expected on the day. Jaffer is hoping that there will be sunshine and that fans who couldn't watch the action can have some gametime. He also added that Sanju Samson and Kuldeep Yadav should be given a chance, but as per the current circumstances, it looks like it will be the same team.
