The second ODI between India and Bangladesh on Wednesday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium was a roller coaster ride for the fans. India kept itself in the game until the very end, and the result of the match was decided after the last bowl was bowled.

Despite some heroics from the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, Bangladesh edged past the visitors by 5 runs to complete the series win, with one match left to be played on Saturday. However, for India, the big setback was the injury to Rohit Sharma, who suffered a blow to his left thumb during the second ODI.

He was taken to the hospital for scans and came out to bat with medical tape on his thumb. The Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid, confirmed that the skipper will fly back to Mumbai to meet an expert and will miss the third ODI.

However, the availability of Rohit for the two tests starting on December 14 has also come under the scanner, and he is likely to miss the two tests, which has left the Indian team to fill a big role.

If Rohit misses the test series, then India "A" captain Abhimanyu Easwaran is the candidate who might replace him for the test series. A BCCI source confirmed to PTI news agency that Easwaran is the candidate that the BCCI will go for in case Rohit will misses the series.

He said, "Abhimanyu Easwaran has scored back to back hundreds in ongoing A Test series and is an opener. In all likelihood, he will join the squad in Chattogram after finishing his second A Test in Sylhet."

However, if Easwaran comes into the series, then it will be Shubman Gill and KL Rahul who are likely to open the series. On the other hand, the replacement for Mohammed Shami is yet to be announced. Some media reports suggest that either India "A" pacer Mukesh Kumar or Umran Malik might replace him.
