Watch: Fortunate Shreyas Iyer gets bowled but survives as the bails didn't fall down

Day 1 of the first test between India and Bangladesh has come to an end. At the stumps of the first day, the visitors are at 278/6 and would be feeling unlucky as they lost two quick wickets at the end of the first day.
From 261/4, India lost Cheteshwar Pujara and Axar Patel (14) for the next 17 runs to bring Bangladesh back into the game. For India Shreyas Iyer and vice-captain Pujara played two brilliant knock at an uneven pitch. Pujara was unlucky and missed a well-deserved century by 10 runs.
He made a hard-fought 90 runs off 203 balls with 11 boundaries, while Iyer carried on his form and scored yet another 50-plus score in 2022. He is unbeaten on 82 off 169, with 10 boundaries, and looking for a big score.
Both batters added a vital partnership of 141 runs for the fifth wicket to pull India out of misery. However, despite a delivery from Bangladeshi pacer Ebadot Hossain clipping his stumps, Iyer was not out.
It happened on the 5th ball of the 83rd over of the Indian innings. Ebadot bowled a straight ball that kept low, and Iyer missed the line. The ball hit the off-stumps and one bail lighted up, but it didn't fall down, while being seated on the stumps above the groove and despite continuing to light up.

And as the bails didn't fall down, Iyer wasn't given out. Later, he along with Pujara had a laugh at his luck, while the Bangladeshi players were seen cursing their luck.
Speaking of the game, India won the toss and chose to bat first. The visitors had a decent opening partnership of 41 runs between Shubman Gill (20) and KL Rahul (22). But once that partnership was broken, India lost quick wickets, including that of Virat Kohli (1).
Although Rishabh Pant came to the crease and played in an aggressive fashion and played some shots, But he also fell in trying to play positive cricket. Pant played a good inning, scoring 46 runs off 45 balls, with six boundaries and two maximums.
