"Frustration started to creep in.." Virat Kohli opens up on his lean patch after 45th ODI 100 in 1st ODI
The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, saw Virat Kohli in his vintage mood. The former Indian captain scored his third ODI century, kicking off 2023 with a bang.
Virat scored the 45th ODI century of his career and his 73rd overall to help India register a 67-run victory over the visitors. He scored an 80-ball century and made 113 runs off 87 balls, with 12 fours and one six, and India posted a massive score of 373/7 in their 50 overs.
However, things weren't the same for the former Indian skipper a few months ago, when it looked like Virat might have lost his best touch. Although he was getting some half-centuries, the issues he was facing were that he wasn't able to convert the starts into a big one, which resulted in an almost three-year-long century drought.
But it looked like Virat was going back to his normal self. After the game in Guwahati, Virat revealed his thoughts during the tough phase when he was struggling to get going. The BCCI posted a video after the game featuring Suryakumara Yadav and Virat Kohli, where he was seen speaking to SKY about his tough times.
Virat said, "When you play more and more now, people look at you differently. When things are going well, everything happens in a nice flow. But when there are a few ups and downs, that's where for me the frustration started to creep in. I wanted to play a certain way but cricket wasn't allowing me to."
Meanwhile, the former Indian captain also praised Suryakumar for his brilliant form and said that he is playing on a different planet and the fans are loving him. He added that everyone has worked hard over the years to get such a kind of success, and SKY has achieved that in the past year itself, which is commendable.
