Here's the reason why DJ Bravo did not bowl the final over for CSK

After defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their eighth match of IPL 2020, it seemed like the Chennai Super Kings would return to winning tracks this season. However, the same did not happen as they suffered a five-wicket loss against the Delhi Capitals in their previous game.

The batsmen performed exceptionally well in the first innings. Faf du Plessis’ half-century powered the Chennai Super Kings to a score of 179/4. A total above 170 is considered a par score in the UAE and CSK had almost sealed the deal in this contest.

However, in the last over, Axar Patel smashed three sixes off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling and that turned the game in Delhi’s favor. The fans want to know why didn’t CSK skipper MS Dhoni use DJ Bravo to bowl the final over of the innings. Bravo is a specialized death bowler who had figures of 1/23 in three overs.

Since two left-handed batsmen were there in the middle, giving the ball to a left-arm spinner proved to be a wrong decision. Axar took advantage of the shorter boundaries and smacked three maximums off Jadeja’s bowling.

When asked about the reason why Bravo did not bowl the final over, MS Dhoni replied in the post-match interview:

“Bravo was not fit, he went out and was really not able to come back. That was the reason we had to bowl (Jadeja). The option was between Karn and Jaddu so I went ahead with Jaddu. Maybe not enough.”

The Hindi commentators had mentioned on the air that Bravo was unfit to bowl that was the reason why Ravindra Jadeja bowled the final over. Some Twitter users felt that someone like Kedar Jadhav could have done this job because he is a right-arm off-spinner who turns the ball away from the left-handers.
