Here's why Faf du Plessis and Sam Curran did not get Orange Cap and Purple Cap in IPL 2020 till now

IPL 2020 has begun in the UAE as the fans have got some quality cricket matches on their television screens. After six months of boredom, the cricket fans in India are finally getting to see what they wanted to watch in March.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a nasty impact on every individual. However, the cricketers reached the Gulf nation to make sure that everyone is entertained while at home. There have been many changes in the IPL this year because of the tough situations.

However, an interesting absence so far in the IPL was of the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap award. Chennai Super Kings’ batsman Faf du Plessis and all-rounder Sam Curran have scored the most runs and taken the most wickets in IPL 2020 to now. However, they have not got the Orange Cap and Purple Cap by now. The fans are wondering about the reason behind it, and here is the actual reasoning behind it.

In IPL, there is a rule that the Orange Cap and Purple Cap cannot be given to any individual before all teams play their respective opening matches in the competition. While Chennai Super Kings played their second match against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday, Kolkata Knight Riders had not begun their campaign.

The Knight Riders played their first game against Mumbai Indians last night and lost by a considerable margin. Now that all teams have played at least one game in the tournament, there is a high chance that the organizers will award the Orange Cap or Purple Cap to whosoever will be the number one bowler or batsman during the match between RCB and KXIP. AB de Villiers has a chance to secure the Orange Cap for a while and Mayank Agarwal is the second candidate. For the Purple Cap, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Shami are the top contenders.
