Here's why Rohit Sharma didn't feature in the IPL Captain's Meet Picture in Ahmedabad
The biggest Indian cricket carnival will commence on Friday, March 31, when two IPL champions lock horns to kick off the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. The tournament's opener will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium.

All the IPL franchises are ready to compete to become the 2023 champions. Meanwhile, all the IPL captains gathered at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the official captains' meeting session ahead of the season. But the picture had only nine captains in it alongside the TATA IPL trophy.

The captain to miss was the most successful skipper, Rohit Sharma. The picture shared on the social media platforms did not show Rohit as part of that session. It came as a shock to many, which sparked a debate among the fans about why the MI skipper was not available.

However, the real reason Rohit was not present in Ahmedabad was his health. As per the report in the Times of India, MI's skipper was not well, which was the reason he missed the event. Although there is no official statement on this, it is unclear what made him ill.

But despite not being present in Ahmedabad, Rohit will feature in the first IPL game for MI on Sunday, against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Earlier, in the pre-tournament press conference, MI head coach Mark Boucher hinted that they might give Rohit a break from one or two games for workload management.

MI didn't have a great performance in 2022, finishing the season at the bottom. They started the tournament with eight consecutive losses and were the first team to get eliminated. Thus, Rohit will be very important for MI if they want to do well. He recently scored a test century against Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy and is in good form.
