"There are no panic stations" - South African skipper after the loss in 2nd match vs SA

On Tuesday, India registered their first win against South Africa in 2022 across the format. After losing the first two matches of the five-match T20I series, the Men in Blue bounced back strongly to win the third match by 48 runs. With this win, the series is still alive, while the visitors are leading by 2-1.

The bowling department for India stepped up and finally defended the target set by their batters. Temba Bavuma and his team got all out for just 131 runs in 19.1 overs. For India, the veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was the star who didn't let the batters play freely in the middle overs.

Chahal took three crucial wickets for just 20 runs. On the other hand, Harshal Patel was also among the wickets. He ended the match with a figure of 4/25. Although the South African batters did struggle, the skipper is confident about his team.

In the post-match conference, Bavuma highlighted that they didn't have a good start at the top, which put pressure on the rest of the batting lineup. He also said that there are a few areas where the team needs to look out before the next game.

He also praised the Indian team and said that without the big names, the current squad is full of match winners and they deserved to win the match. Bavuma added, "We know we have to play well, and that’s what we did in the first two games. Today (India) were a much better side."

He also stated that this is not a situation that we will win by 5-0 because India doesn't have their main players. The skipper added that this is a good team but South Africa will not change their approach.

He concluded, " I’d be foolish to change our approach after one loss. There are no panic stations." Notably, the visitors are also without their premium in-form batters like Quinton De Kock and Aiden Markram. Both teams will now face off in the fourth match on Friday, June 17 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
