Dinesh Karthik has made a solid statement after his incredible performance in the TATA IPL 2022 for RCB and then he carried on to his form in the five-match T20I series against South Africa at home. His comeback has certainly given Indian cricket many options for the upcoming T20I World Cup in Australia.

The veteran wicket-keeper batsman ended the series with 92 runs at an incredible strike rate of 158.62. He played a vital role for India in the absence of regular players coming down the order. His knock of 55* in the fourth match was the prime reason for India's win and leveling the series.

Certainly, he has strengthened his case for a place in the upcoming World Cup later this year. Many former cricketers and many cricket pundits also believe that DK should be given a chance in the ICC event later this year.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has praised the 37-year-old for his remarkable comeback. The cricketer turned commentator has picked DK as the star performer for India in the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa. He also praised DK's durability, claiming that he has outlasted MS Dhoni's entire career.

On the other hand, Aakash also feels that Ishan Kishan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the top two performers from India against South Africa, and then he puts DK at third. He also said that the number that the 37-year-old bats is very difficult to score runs at that position.

The ex-cricketer said,"At No. 3, I have kept Karthik. Batting is very difficult at the number he bats. The way he has played, he has been brilliant. It has been a very long career. Dhoni's entire international career got over in between but DK is still there."

He also said that DK's hunger for runs has grown and the way he plays in the final overs is the need of an hour. Aakash concluded, highlighting that the role of a specialist death batter is the most difficult role in cricket.

He ended by saying that DK's consistency is putting a lot of pressure on Rishabh Pant and his spot in the World Cup T20I is in trouble.Pant struggled against South Africa and he needs some good performances to grab the opportunities for the upcoming mega event.
