Sarfaraz Khan to get his maiden call-up in the Indian Test side for Bangladesh series - Reports

The final match of the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 is underway at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. After winning the toss, Mumbai chose to bat first and scored 374 runs in their first innings. Sarfaraz Khan once again scored runs and, in fact, brought up his fourth century of the tournament.

He scored 134 runs after coming out to bat in a pressure situation. But the right-hander carried on with his dream form and helped his team to put up a competitive first innings score. Sarfaraz is the leading run scorer in the competition, who has already scored 937 runs at an incredible average of 133.85.

It is the second successive season that the 24-year-old has scored 900+ runs in one season. And with such incredible consistency, many former cricketers have recommended his name for the Indian test side. However, as per the latest developments, Sarafaraz is set to get the result of his consistent hard work.

As per the report in TOI, it has been learnt that he is likely to get his maiden international call-up on the Indian test side. India are scheduled to play a test series against Bangladesh at the end of this year. According to media reports, the selectors are keen to pick him for the Indian team.

A BCCI source also opened up on this. He said that it has now become impossible to ignore Sarfaraz after his incredible domestic performances, because his performances are putting pressure on some players in the Indian test side. Notably, the 24-year-old was part of the Indian "A" side and did a good job against South Africa.

The source further said, "He will be a certainty when the selectors pick the Indian team for the Bangladesh test series. He did well for India A last year in South Africa and he’s an excellent fielder."

Former cricketer and a selection committee member, Sunil Joshi, had a long conversation with Sarfaraz Khan after the end of Day 2 of the final match. Another selection committee member, Harvinder Singh, was also present there. In a discussion with TOI, the batter said that both members praised his innings.

Speaking of his debut for India, the 24-year-old said, "As far as Team India’s selection is concerned, I’m working hard. My focus is to only score runs. Every person has dreams. It will happen if it is written in my destiny."
