The 6th edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League is underway. A total of eight teams are competing for the TNPL 2022 title. A total of 32 matches will be played in the tournament. The Chepauk Super Gillies will defend their title this season. The three-time champions won the final last season by beating Ruby Trichy Warriors.

However, the defending champions lost their first match to the Nellai Royal Kings with a super over finish. The best players from Tamil Nadu are taking part in the tournament. Notably, a few players have also played in the Indian Premier League as well. So in this article, we will cover the list of player who has also been part of IPL.

List of Players who have also played in the IPL

Baba Aparjith made his IPL debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders last season. KKR bought him for his base price of INR 20 lakh. He played three matches this season and scored 21 runs. 

R. Sai Kishore represented the winning franchise, Gujarat Titans, in the TATA IPL 2022. The left-arm spinner did a really good job for his team. In his very first season, he picked up six wickets in five matches. He also bolwed a superb spell of 2/20 in the final against Rajasthan Royals to help his team win. GT bought him for INR 3 crore.

B Sai Sudharshan made his IPL debut in the recent season for Gujarat Titans. He did an amazing job with the bat in his hand. Sudharshan played five matches in IPL 2022 and scored 145 runs at an average of 36.25 and a strike rate of 127.19 with a high score of 65*. GT bought him for the price of INR 20 lakh.

Sanjay Yadav got his chance in the IPL 2020 when Sunrisers Hyderabad picked him for Rs. 20 lakh. But he didn't get any games to play. Then in the 2022 season, he was picked by the Mumbai Indians for INR 50 lakh. However, he just played one match, but didn't make any impact.

Narayan Jegadeesan is currently playing for the four-time champions, Chennai Super Kings. He made his IPL debut in the 2020 season and was picked up by CSK in the auction in 2022 for INR 20 lakh. He has scored 73 runs in four innings.

Sharukh Khan was the hot property when the mega-acution 2022 took place. Punjab Kings bought this explosive batsman for INR 9 crore. He made his debut for PBKS in 2021 and, so far, has played 19 matches and has 270 runs under his belt.

Murali Vijay is the most experienced batsman in the TNPL. He returned to the tournament after a two-year absence. He played in the 2019 season. Murali made his IPL debut way back in 2009, but he last played his IPL match in 2020. He has played 106 IPL matches and scored 2619 runs with 13 half-centuries and two centuries.

Murugan Ashwin played for Mumbai Indians in the TATA IPL 2022. In fact, he has been with the IPL since 2016 and has played for RCB, PBKS, and now with MI. Mumbai picked him for INR 1.6 crore in the recent auction. Overall, he has played 42 matches and picked up 35 wickets so far.

Sandeep Warrior made his IPL debut in 2019 for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He was part of KKR for three seasons and then the franchise released him ahead of the 2022 acution. The right-armer has played five matches so far and has two wickets to his name.

Varun Chakravarthy was one of the four retentions made by the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. He has been an integral part of KKR since 2019. He has played 42 matches for them and picked up 42 wickets. He was retained for INR 8 crore in this season.

Rajagopal Sathish played for three different franchises in his stint in the IPL. He played for the Mumbai Indians in 2010-2011. He then spent the 2012-2013 season with the Punjab Kings. He last played for KKR in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He has played a total of 34 matches and scored 270 runs.

Vijay Shankar made his IPL debut in 2014 for the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). He has played with three franchises in seven IPL editions. He was part of the IPL winning team, Gujarat Titans, this season. GT picked him for the price of Rs 1.40 crore at the auction. Overall, he has played 51 matches and scored 731 runs, along with nine wickets with the ball.
