Team India announced 16-member squad for three-match ODI series against West Indies, Shikhar Dhawan to lead the team

The Men in Blue are on their tour of England for a multi-format series. The tour has already begun with a one-off Test match that England won in remarkable fashion. Both teams will play three T20Is and three ODIs, starting on Thursday, July 7 at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.

The tour will end with the third and final ODI match on Sunday, July 17 at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. Notably, India will be playing back-to-back series till the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. India will fly to the West Indies after the England tour for a white-ball series.

They will play three ODIs and five T20I matches on their tour to the West Indies. Notably, there were a few reports that the management were looking to give rest to their senior players for the white-ball series against the Caribbean team.

However, now it has been confirmed as the selection committee led by Chetan Sharma has announced the Indian squad for the three-match ODI series on Wednesday. Notably, they have given rest to all the senior players, but the most interesting part is that for this series they have chosen another player to captain the team.

Shikhar Dhawan will be the captain of the team, while Ravindra Jadeja will assist him as the vice-captain. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah have been given rest.

A few interesting players have also been picked for the side. Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Hooda, Shubman Gill, and Sanju Samson are in the team. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel are also the notable absentees. 

The first ODI will be played on Friday, July 22nd, while the second one-day international will start on Sunday, July 24. The third and final ODI match will take place on Wednesday, July 27. The three-match ODI series will be played at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

The ODI series will be followed by a five-match T20I series. The squad for the shortest format is yet to be announced.
